Important information

Before getting a piercing, it’s important to be well-informed. Here you can read about how ear piercing and piercing placement works, the factors that may make piercing unsuitable for you, the expected healing times, and the materials used for piercings. You will also find answers to the most frequently asked questions.

Of course, if you have any additional questions, feel free to contact me through any of my available channels.

The process of ear piercing and piercing insertion

For anyone under the age of 18, I can only perform the piercing if a parent or legal guardian completes and signs a consent form.

Before the piercing procedure (whether using a piercing gun or a needle), we will always begin with a consultation, during which I will ask questions related to your health.

There are certain situations in which piercing or earring placement cannot be performed. These include, for example:

  • Epilepsy

  • Pacemaker

  • Previous endocarditis (inflammation of the heart lining)

  • Severe cardiovascular disease

  • Hemophilia (bleeding disorder)

  • Use of strong blood thinners

  • Any infectious disease

  • Cancer

  • Any skin condition at the piercing site (e.g., rash, mole, scar tissue, lesions)

  • Fever

  • Being on an antibiotic course

  • Diabetes — the wound may heal more slowly and requires extra aftercare

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding, due to the potential risk of infection and possible need for antibiotics

After discussing everything, you will be asked to sign a data protection and consent form before I can perform the piercing.

During the piercing procedure, I will guide you through each step. We will also go over the aftercare instructions thoroughly.

Aftercare

After the jewellery has been inserted, you must avoid swimming pools, thermal baths, saunas, and tanning beds for 1 month. Showers are allowed, but soaking is strictly forbidden.

Keep the piercing away from cosmetic products such as foundation, makeup, and creams, as these can clog the wound and easily lead to inflammation.

How to clean your piercing?

  • Use sterile saline solution three times a day. This can be harder to find in larger quantities. You may also use Octenisept instead — it is available in any pharmacy.

  • Do not blow on the piercing! Clean it gently using a cotton swab.

  • Swelling and redness are normal during the entire healing period.

  • Do not touch, twist, or change the jewellery until it has fully healed.

  • Always touch the piercing with clean hands only.

Do NOT use: alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, any kind of ointment, aloe vera, or oils. If inflammation occurs, Tetran ointment (over-the-counter) or Pimafucort ointment (prescription) may be used.

Since healing time varies from person to person, it is important to stay patient and follow the aftercare instructions carefully.

Healing time

The full healing time of piercings can vary from person to person.
The timeframes below are approximate and may differ individually.

Ear lobe: 4-6 weeks
Parts of the ear with cartilage: 6-9 months
Nose piercing: 3-6 months
Septum: 2-4 months
Navel: 6-9 months

About the material of the inserted piercing

Recommended materials for fresh piercings:

When choosing your first piercing, it’s not only the style and shape that matter — the material of the jewellery is just as important. It plays a major role in how fast and how smoothly the piercing heals, and whether complications can be avoided.

1. Titanium (ASTM F136)

One of the best choices for a first piercing.

  • 100% hypoallergenic

  • Nickel-free

  • Lightweight and strong

  • Implant-grade (surgical titanium)

  • Promotes fast, clean healing

  • Ideal for sensitive skin, allergies, and healing piercings

2. Surgical Steel (316L Stainless Steel)

A great value for money and widely used option.

  • Durable and corrosion-resistant

  • Hypoallergenic (contains low levels of nickel, but not entirely nickel-free)

  • Can be disinfected, does not tarnish

  • Recommended if you are not metal-sensitive and want a reliable, affordable option

Avoid for fresh piercings:

  • Glass

  • Acrylic

  • Natural or organic materials (horn, bone, wood)

  • Silver

  • Gold-plated jewellery

  • Any type of fashion jewellery or costume jewellery

Do I need to be over 18?

Not necessarily. However, for anyone under the age of 18, I can only perform ear piercing or any other piercing with a signed Parental Consent Form.

What kind of piercing do I need?

How much does it hurt? No piercing can be guaranteed to be completely painless, and the sensation varies greatly from person to person. Most clients, however, report that the experience is much less painful than they expected.

How long is the healing time? Healing time depends on the placement of the piercing and can range anywhere from 2 to 9 months.

Which style suits me best?

There is a wide variety of jewellery available today — different sizes, shapes, materials, and styles. I will be happy to help you choose the one that fits your anatomy and personal style.

Pain and Healing

What symptoms are normal, and when should you see a doctor? Piercings take several months to heal, so it’s essential to be patient and consistent with aftercare. During the healing process, it is completely normal to experience swelling, tenderness, and a small amount of discharge. If you follow the aftercare instructions properly, more serious issues are unlikely.

However, if you notice persistent or worsening inflammation that does not improve, you should contact both your piercer and your general practitioner.

Health risks

What allergic reactions can occur? The most common allergy related to piercings is metal allergy. In such cases, I will always recommend jewellery made from titanium, as it is completely hypoallergenic. In rare cases, other allergies may also occur (for example, to disinfectants). Before the piercing, I will ask several questions — including ones about any known allergies — to ensure your safety.

How can scarring, bumps, or rejection be avoided? I prefer to use titanium jewellery, as it significantly reduces the risk of complications. Of course, proper aftercare is just as important, as well as choosing the correct size and type of jewellery for your anatomy. With the right materials and consistent aftercare, the chances of bumps, scarring, or rejection are much lower.

Aftercare and Follow-up Care

How often should I clean my piercing? For a fresh piercing, clean it 3 times a day.Once healing has started, you may reduce the frequency, but the piercing must always be kept clean — even after it has fully healed.
Dirt and buildup can accumulate on the jewellery post, and this should be removed regularly, even in a healed piercing.

What is allowed and what is not during healing? (e.g., swimming, makeup, sleeping position) In general, fresh piercings should not be soaked, and you should avoid pools, baths, and sleeping directly on the piercing. Depending on the type and location of the piercing, I will provide you with detailed, personalised aftercare instructions so you know exactly what to avoid and for how long.

Choosing the salon

How do I choose a reliable piercer? It’s important to choose a professional who is knowledgeable and follows strict hygiene standards.

Is the studio clean and hygienic? The cleanliness of the studio and the tools used is absolutely essential. Great care must be taken to disinfect and sterilize all equipment and to maintain a clean working environment at all times. My medical background, experience, and training help ensure that every procedure is performed under safe and hygienic conditions.

Material and types of jewellery

What material should I pick as a first jewellery? (titanium, sergical steel, gold etc.)

Sergical Steel or Titanium without question. In case of a healed piercing, you may use other materials as well, but for the first time these two are recommended for new piercings.

When can I change the jewellery? The piercing may be changed in case the wound has healed and it is not sensitive.

Prices and costs

How much does a piercing cost? Its price depends on the type and material. You can learn more about this if you visit the Price List section of this website.

Does the price contain the jewellery? The prices always containt the jewellery.

Questions about work, school or sport

Do I need to cover the piercing? Is it possible? I do not recommend covering a fresh, healing piercing. Of course there are workplaces where this might be mandatory. I have also witnessed this. So If your situation allows it, don't cover the piercing.

Can I remove it temporarily for sports? After the first piercing it is not recommended to do any vigorous physical activity. you do not have to remove it to do sports., but it is important to consider the type of sports you do before having a piercing done, whether it will be in danger eg. wrestling.

Can it be dangerous regarding certain acvtivities? Fundamentally, I wouldn't say it is dangerous regardless of which kind of piercing you choose. But it can vastly depend on what kind of sport work or extreme activity you wish to pursue. That is why it is always advised to ask for the opinion of a piercer in case you are unsure of your decision.

Piercing removal

What happens if I wish to remove it? It can occur that somebody may get bored of a given piercing, or maybe is obiged to remove it because of workplace regulations.

Will the hole close up? After a certain amount of time, it will. It depends on the individual how much time it takes for it to close up. It also depends on how long the person had the piercing.

Will it leave a mark? This is also depends on the individual. In most cases there is a small mark that remain.
